Grapeland - Bennett Lake
Description:
Bennett Lake is 40 acres with depths up to 30 feet. This lake has been around since the 50's and has always been full of fish. Since 2001 this lake has been under intense management. The lake was put on a fertilization program and additional cover and forage fish have been added. You can see the results with very healthy looking bass.
Bank fishing is very limited. 2 Jon boats are available for an additional fee. Boat one is a jon boat with swivel seats, trolling motor and battery and is an additional $30.00. Boat two is a jon boat with bench seating and is $20.00. Outside boats are allowed but, no gas motors.
Directions:
Between Palestine and Crockett. App. 2 1/2 hours (145 miles) south of downtown Dallas. App. 2 1/2 hours (140 miles) north of downtown Houston.
Parking
As you face the lake the boat launch and parking area are approx 100 feet to the left of the landowners home. The boat dock is behind and to the right of the owners home.
Angler Limit
Two boats, more allowed if in one group
Requirements
MANDATORY:Fish Harvest: Members must keep any bass between 8" and 14" in length and all crappie. There are stringers on the boat dock. If you don't want to keep the fish there is a cage near the dock where you can leave them.
Do not drive across the landowner's yard to get to the lake. You can drive down the left side (far edge) of the yard to get your boat to the launch area. Use caution and do not rut up the property if wet.

Lodging Description
$25 per person, minors are 1/2 price, $100 minimum.
Get away for a weekend at the cabin on Bennett Lake. This cozy little cabin is located 50 yards from the lake and has room for the whole family. Two bedrooms and a living space provide plenty of room for cots or sleeping bags. Both bedrooms have bunk beds, one with a trundle. A queen size air up mattress is also available. The cabin also contains a full kitchen (fridge, microwave, coffee pot, silver and dish ware), full bathroom, heat, A/C and, a t.v. with satellite. A barbecue grill is also available. Guests must provide their own Linens and towels. Pictures will be provided soon.
Check in time at the cabin is 3:00 p.m. unless an earlier arrival time is arranged.
