Drove up from Converse, took about 2 hours, an unfortunate fact of south texas ponds though is how low the water is at some ponds.

By my guess the pond was down to around 6 to 8 acres. You can see where the pond pictured was at, and that feature with the trees standing out of the water must be a blast to fish through, but the water was roughly 4 to 6 feet lower than pictured there.

We still fished it nonetheless, due to the long drive, and right off the bat noticed small bass chasing shad in the shallows.

We would've used the on-site boat, but just like another pond we would've used it at, the water was so low it hardly would've done anything, and on top of that there werent any oars, life preservers or anything else aside from the Jon boat.

We fished from about 9am until just before 5pm and after walking around the pond about 5 times (walking around it and back and forth) we just got bored as the biggest we caught was a very lean but mature bass that we weighed at 2.2 lbs.

It was a bit of a let down, between the difference pictured and reading it had a sizable 5lb bass population, as we caught plenty through a bunch of different colors and strategies out but never got any of those hogs we were looking for.
