Total Fish/Sizes : 29 bass 8-19.5"

Spent Cinco De Mayo partying it up with the bass!

Decided to have another serving of fine fishing action! Caught 29 bass up to 19.5” (that one weighed in at 5 lbs.). Five were between 8 – 14” the rest were between 16 – 19.5”. Never could find the 6lber that fellow member and “fish whisperer” Bruce Bernard landed last Sunday! Hats off to him!

Water up after recent rains and water temp at start was 69F with a SE 10-15 mph wind all day. Fished the entire tank from the bank, fan casting. Most of the big uns were caught throwing subparallel to the bank within 5ft from the shoreline with a slowly retreived chase bait. Several of the bites occured right on bank within a rod length of where I was standing. It was fun watching the bass grab the lure before being yanked (to their suprise) out of the water.

Steady bite (where the bass were present) under heavy cloud cover from dawn till 1PM. Once the sun poked out the action slowed waaaay down! See the photo for the 5 main baits that attracted bites. Used a paddle tail on the chatter till 1PM then switched to a zoom craw trailier. Unlike last week this time chrome colored lures and rattle traps garnered no strikes. Soft plastics on the bottom were also ignored.

Once again all the action occured between the pier and the last finger on the north embayment with some addiitional success off of the fingers on the other side of this same embayment. Nothing once again along the big nose facing the pier or the flats along the southern side of the tank!

Big thanks to the owners for letting us fish this fine property!

By the way all of their beef products are excellent and their 4 varieties of sausage are out of this world fresh off a smoker! the Kroger’s in Htown carry their full line!
