Unfortunately, I didn’t read the previous fishing report until today or I probably would have stayed out there all day.

I got on the water around 6:20 a.m. The ramp is getting a little shallow for my fiberglass boat, but it is still very manageable. If you pull your trailer out after launching like I do, I would recommend beaching the boat a little closer to the spillway where the bank is steeper. It makes pushing back off much easier.

I started along the deeper grassy banks and caught a 4-pound fish very early on a Geecrack Karashi. That fish was suspended in deeper water right off the grass edge near the trees just past the spillway. I also picked up several fish on a Megabass Sleeper Gill in a bluegill pattern.

From there I moved into the timber and rotated between a Hags Prickly Pear and a similar creature-style bait made by an Oklahoma company, Pond Boss, in a pumpkin color with some sparkle. I also mixed in a spinnerbait and worked it very slowly through the trees. A bluegill-colored swim jig with a pumpkin Berkley Pit Boss trailer also produced fish.

I finished with at least 30 largemouth and removed 7 bass that were 14 inches or smaller per the lake management rule. I had three fish in the 4-pound range, one just over 5 pounds deep in the timber, and several more in the 2- to 3-pound range.

Water temperature started around 84 degrees and climbed to about 87 degrees by the time I left. Winds were fairly light with mostly sunny conditions. I pulled off the water just after 11:00 a.m. so I could get into the office.

Another very solid morning at Acker. The bigger fish continue to show up, and the deeper grass edges and timber seem to be holding some of the better quality fish. However with what I can see on FFS there are fish everywhere and different depths depending on where and what time of day.
