got there early but not before about 100 people that were to run that day. i’ve never followed a train of cars into the ranch before so was a new experience. apparently a very successful event. there were many still out on the trails when i left. some tough athletes as it was HOT.

Lake is very low, and perimeter of the lake really weed choked, but still lots to fish. tried a frog in those weeds for quite some time. nothing. hmmm… finally caught one on weightless tx rig up against the weedline. thats pretty much where they were, but it was a junk fishing kinda day as i never got bit again on that offering. went to a fluke and got a ferocious bite, but he dropped it just as i was to set the hook. that was my last fluke bite. alrighty then. finally got some bite consistency with a tx rigged red ribbontail worm. missed way more than i caught as the small fish would grab the tail and not the whole bait. frustrating, but thats fishing. caught a 16” fish that i thought was a big one as he stayed down, fought hard, and made another run straight down when he saw the boat. those floridas have got some shoulders! landed enough to make it worthwhile while watching the runners go by. nothing but respect for that group let me tell you. 

wonderful time as always. beautful ranch and glad to know others get to share it in a different way. they were very nice to me waving most everytime they passed the lake as well as the event folks up by the house. i am so grateful to be able to fish here and thank the owners of the ranch as well as PWF for making it so. always worth the trip.
