Here’s a tightened version, and I’d use “removed” rather than “culled” since that matches the management-rule language you’ve been using.

I noticed a half-day opening at Acker and decided to capitalize on it. We got on the water around 4:30 p.m. and fished until dark.

It was hot with a few pop-up storms nearby, but they stayed away from us and actually created a nice east wind for most of the afternoon. The bite was pretty slow until around 7:00 p.m., then it started to pick up as the evening cooled off.

Between my guest and me, we caught around 25 largemouth. Most of the fish were in the 2- to 3-pound range, with a couple around 4 pounds, one around 5 pounds, and the biggest weighing 6.3 pounds.

We caught fish on spinnerbaits, the Geecrack Karashi, and swim jigs, but the 10-inch Texas-rigged worm was our best producer. Most of those bites came around the timber, with a few fish also coming from the grass.

Water temperature started around 86 degrees and dropped to about 83 degrees by dark. We removed 5 bass that were 14 inches or smaller per the lake management rule.

Overall, it was another solid short trip at Acker. Even with a slow start, the lake once again produced good numbers and several quality fish. I’m definitely ready for some cooler weather, but it’s hard to complain about how consistently Acker continues to produce.
