Fished Gallant Elms on July 19 from noon until around 6:30.

Conditions:

Water clarity: 3 ft

Water temp: 89

Sky: clear

Outside temp:  Hot (enough said)

Wind: 5-10

Lake pool status: probably down 10 ft

On my first cast, I was rewarded with the first of abut 20 bass  (10 culled).  The largest was a 4.2 caught on a jig next to a solitary standing timber in about 20 ft of water. The pattern was fishing near standing timber as I caught them with a jig, chatter bait, and square-billed crank baits.  The standing timbers near the launch site produced as did the area on the opposite side directly across from the launch site.  I did not have much success in the area opposite from the dam.

Other items of interest: I was worried about launching my kayak as I have almost gotten stuck here several years ago.  There is a large flat area for launching as I was able to drive my 4 Runner and trailer into that area without any problems.

Here is a photo of the 4-2.
