Hello Everyone,

The family and I are going to Post Oak Lake for the weekend. I have not seen any fishing reports for Post Oak Lake in the last 2 weeks. There were some T-Storms that rolled through the BCS area last week but I don’t know how much rain they received. I have a few questions.

Has anyone fished there and did not post a report?

Anyone know the water level of the lakes.

Have a great 4th of July.

Thanks,

Hi Mark,

The water is disappointing low. The lake did receive a big rain two weeks ago, which helped, but as we all know, we are in a severe drought. The lake same level as the day we signed the lease agreement with the landowner. The lake is about 1/2 full, which means it is about 15 acres as opposed to 33 acres when full. However, this should not slow the fishing, the lake just doesn’t look its best. There will be a distinct vegetation line all the way around the lake. My best guess is those fish are just inside that ring. Flukes and shallow jerk baits should be great. The big lake holds more fish, but I did catch one nice 4 lb+ fish out of the small tank. I wore out the 2-3 fish, fishing by the two feeders in the big lake. The cabin is really nice, about as nice as any in the club.

James,

When I went a month ago the water was low, but had got some rain and the weeds were about 6” below the top. I would think the weeds are on top now. I think the topwater bite should be great at daybreak, the day I went I had a bad morning and got there late. Use heavy line to pull the fish thru the thick weeds. When I went I caught alot of fish with a small spinnerbait, homemade 1/4” profile and 1/2 oz weight with double small willow blades cast out real far and then let it sink and then fished real slow with lots of up and down movement that triggered lots of hits. I think a rattle trap out in the middle from the boat would tear them up. The area along the dam with the feeders had the most fish and the opposite side of the lake from the house where the stumps are out of the water was real good, just hard to get a cast out to it. It would be better to use the boat to get to this area. The boat is about 100 yards from the lake and looked in good shape. The cabin is pretty far from the lake but is secluded and looked real nice. The whole property is secluded and has lots of room to roam around. Good luck.
