Fished Double AA yesterday with fellow member and buddy David Fuller.  Started the day off right with Fuel City - “Where Dreams Come True” -  breakfast tacos.  Never understood why that’s Fuel City’s slogan but I was certainly dreaming of some big bass at Double AA.  Dream came true but I guess I woke up a little early – only caught two bass and one bream but the two bass were beasts for the fly rod - a 4.5 and a 4.  Caught them both in the corner of the dam to the right of the launch - caught one just after lunch and one about 5:30.

Water was clear and weather was good but looks like we were the missing ingredient.  We fished everywhere with everything and just couldn’t find em or couldn’t get them to bite.  We fished “the hump”, the edges, the brush piles, the trees, the middle and even threw topwater poppers shallow and just couldn’t get the bass to hit our flies.  Neither one of us fish with fish finders and I think one of those might have really helped today. I think this place is going to be great on the fly rod in the spring/summer when the bass start to come up shallower - today just was not a fly rod day.  We both had on some sinking line to get our flies down deep but the bass were elusive.  Had a great visit with the landowner Joe and a great lunch at the Mexican food joint - La Pradara’s - just past the high school on the way into Wills Point.  We caught a great sunrise and a great sunset so net net – a great day!
