BassForecast© releases 1st largemouth bass catch rate study

Since October of 2016, renowned Lake Fork fishing guide and FLW series bass fishing professional James Caldemeyer has been participating in a catch rate study with BassForecast©.  Each day, James reports his client’s Lake Fork catch rates (number of bass caught per hour per angler), which is recorded along with the BassForecast© rating for the day (The “BFR”).  With 4 months of data in as of 1/31/17, following are the top 3 study findings:

1.  The average daily catch rate when the BFR was 6 or higher (top 20% of days), was 68% greater than the average daily catch rate when the BFR was 4 or lower (bottom 20% of days).

2.  During the top 10% of bass catching days, the average BFR was 50% higher than the bottom 10% of bass catching days.

3.  During the top 10% of bass catching days, the catch rate was 4.05x higher than the bottom 10% of bass catching days.

James was offered no compensation, and no promise of any future compensation for his participation.  Not every day’s catch rate correlated perfectly with the BFR rating. On some high rated BFR days, the catch rate was lower than the average catch rate.  And, on some low rated BFR days, the catch rate was higher than the average catch rate.  However, over a 4 month period, the numbers do not lie.  Used consistently over several days on the same body of water, the BassForecast© BFR is an accurate indicator of bass feeding activity.

One study observation of note:  James clients caught a “bag limit” every single day except one during our 4 month study.  The BassForecast© team observed that James was able to adapt his techniques to the day’s conditions until he established a winning pattern for his clients.  When Anglers are not fishing with a top-notch bass guide, the BassForecast© rating can help them tune into the feeding mood of the bass on the days conditions so that they too can figure out a winning pattern to catch more bass.
