Early season fishing tips?

I'm looking forward to kicking off my fishing season soon and wondering about early season tactics on our private water lakes. What works for you folks?

Larry,

This time of year the bass should be getting in prespawn on most lakes. I like to find areas close to where I think they will spawn and work the water that is a little deeper. The water is still cold so I slow roll spinner baits and bladed jigs as close to vegetation and structure as I can. If the vegetation allows, I fish a jig, both swim and structure very slow. Have also had luck with a drop shot rig and the always reliable senko, as well as lizards

I'm sure a lot of the other fishermen here are more accomplished than me. I would love here their opinions as well.

Good luck and have a great year.

I've fished on bigger water early this year and a couple of PWF lakes.  What's been working well for me are spinnerbaits with colorado blades, chatterbaits and slowly fishing a dark jig with a trailer of some sort with some movement.  I've also had luck with very small shad, slowly dragging them along the bottom.  Good luck!
