I arrived at this property on a beautiful cool cloudy morning around 8am. The fish were defiantly active even with the full moon the night before. There was a steady south wind blowing the entire day that was not to bad and the Lake was still fishable. I started out using black Cavitron buzz bait with a red blade. I picked up 6 active fish at the dam in the 2– 3 pound range. Fished the grass near boat launch on the south end of the lake with a Chrome and Black (baby Bass pattern)Pop – R using my pop - pop pause technique. Picked up 5 more all in the 1 lb. range (harvested 5 about 5 ½ lbs.) Picked up 7 more in the 1 –2 lb. (harvested 4 about 4 lbs.) range in the timber on the west side of the lake using a ¼ oz. Strike King Green watermelon Jig with an orange Rage tail Craw (the fish really ate this bait). I noticed a lot of surface activity on the fence row that separates another small lake or run off from the big lake the southwest side of the lake. I threw my Pop-R and only made on pop and picked up a 4 lb. that inhaled the entire lure. Made a second cast in the same area and picked up a 3 lb. Needless to say, the wind had blown the bait fish into this corner and the bass were there. Tried out a new spinner bait by Stump Bumper in a Gizzard Shad color and the fish just killed it. This spinner bait took a beating but kept on hooking up. I caught 8 on this spinner bait in the 6” – 3 ½ lb. range (harvested 4 about 3 lbs.) I noticed the bream were on the beds near the spill way and this gave me a perfect opportunity to try out my Fly Rod that I had for a year that never made it on any of my fishing trips. Once I was able to get a little distance and remember to stream the line to set the hook I managed to catch 10 nice bream. Had to abandon the Fly Rod because it was too much for my right shoulder (post Rotator Cuff surgery) ouch!!!!! I will return to this property it was one of the best lakes that had a very good mixture of grass, rock and vegetation in all the right places.
