I arrived at Parker Branch with an aching right shoulder around 3:30 p.m. did not start fishing until 6:30. Fished the large lake with the boat provided and caught 14 fish in the 6– 2lb range the water was very cloudy due the windy conditions. I used Pop – R which was the bait of choice no takers on the buzz bait and picked up 2 or 3 on a Black and red Horny Toad. Fished the small lake at first, fishing was kind of slow due to the Full moon the night before but soon picked up after I starting using slow moving baits. Caught a 4 lb., 3 lbs. x 2 and a few 2 and 1 lbs. on a Yum puppy (soft plastic weedless Zara spook) I used the 3” green frog pattern color and it only took a few walking the dog retrieves at the edge of the grass to entice the bass to inhale it. I tried the Lazar Trokar hooks for the very first time with the Yum Puppy because I really didn’t believe all the hoopla about how sharp theses hooks are. Well I have to admit I’m a true believer in these hooks. Even with the barbs pressed down, the fish were not coming off. These hooks were so sharp and strong, that when I did set the hook it would penetrate clean thru the to upper part of the fish mouth. I felt so sorry for a couple of the fish that; if I would’ve had some fish band – aids I would have applied them but I was out (LOL). All fish swam away in good shape with the exception of a sore mouth (no floaters) I also caught fish on the Pop – R and Gizzard shad color spinner bait.

Met the land owner Paul later that day and asked him where was the best place to catch catfish and he directed me to the newly constructed pier on the west side of the large lake and Paul even gave me a little fish food to call the catfish in. What a nice guy. The cabin was really nice and comfortable and I will defiantly return to this property. Sadly to say, I was skunked on the catfish but had fun working my way through the bream with hopes of landing a catfish.
