Well, me and 3 fishing buddies spent a couple of days at Bennett Lake even though the weatherman said storms and rain all day Friday. We ended up putting on our rain jackets for about 5 minutes. Man it was perfect fishing weather. cloudy and cool and light breeze the whole trip. fished Thursday afternoon and the bass schooled late evening and we caught a few. We also caught some really nice crappie. We got up early Friday morning and caught the early bite. Probably 15 bass between all of us. I decided since I was close to Melody Acres, I would take one of my fishing buddies and go give it a try. After a call to Steve and Brian they had me set up in no time at all. So we headed to Melody and the others stayed at Bennett and caught crappie. Steve and Brian always come through for me . I was so glad they worked it out and I got to go to Melody. This place is only 10 - 15 acres but man the bassing was just great . In the 4 hrs we fished that afternoon we boated 32 nice bass. The property is wonderful and I met the husband and wife, whom are just great people. We then headed back to Bennett Lake and the other guys had done good on the crappie, and were finishing off with some bass fishing. The bass fishing as a whole wasn't great but it was good and its always great to see my good friend Renee (landowner). Bennett is a really good place and if you want to get into some 5-8 lb catfishing, man there is no better place in the world. As a matter of fact Renee and I were talking about how there should be a catfish tournament some day. I know this is a bass club, but i am a fisherman and I'll go for bass, crappie and catfish. So yall need to give Bennett Lake a try and have a wonderful time , no matter what your fishing for. Oh, and dont miss out on Melody Acres, quite a place!

Great report, Phillip. Did you harvest some of the smaller Melody bass? I’ve harvested 87 sub 15 inchers this year, but not sure if other folks are encouraged to do this.
