Fellow member Dean French and I went to Rough Creek yesterday.  As Steve had mentioned, this week is almost wind-free.  We fished from noon until 8:45 with one break at about 5:00 —we took a tour of the various types of rooms at Rough Creek Lodge.
Air temperature was in the mid-80’s, almost no wind, very sunny and water temperature around 76 degrees.  One slight negative about this lake is the submerged trees love treble hook lures.  Do you remember the famous infomercials about the infamous Banjo minnow lures?  Dean had some and caught most of his bass on them.  He caught the two biggest largemouth of his life —both were 20” long.  I primarily was using lipless and lipped crankbaits.  My largest fish was 18 1/2” with several others right at 18”.  Between the two of us, we landed approximately 30 bass plus one 12” crappie.

As the sun was setting, we went to topwater lures.  I loaned Dean a “torpedo” and I used a Pop-R.  The bass just attacked these lures.  Even when they missed the first time, they hit it a second time.  That was Dean’s first encounter with top water action.  All in all, it was another great day at Rough Creek.
