Awesome day of fishing at Bowie.

Clint Whitlock landed a monster bass at Bowie on Friday.

When we put the fish on the scale it was weighing 6 and change.  We thought no flippin way.  When I got home I went to calibrate the scale with a gallon of water and noticed the scale was on kilo’s.  This puts the fish at 13.2 lbs or so - The scale calibrated correct with the water weight.  We did not get a length with all the excitement.  Released and swam away healthy.

We caught 10 or so - all over the harvest limit.  We caught fish on swim, spinners, cranks, etc - soft plastics didn’t do anything - The #13 was not caught on any of the above - got to have a few secrets.

The wind was blowing hard mid morning, making the lake hard to fish, also water was getting to chocolate milk color by 11am in the main channel and north end - We stopped fishing by 1pm.

About the property -

You need a truck - don’t try and take a car or you will leave your transmission there.

I don’t suggest trying to take a boat trailer down that road - Can’t imagine you making it.

Boats - looked ok, we used our own.

Once you get near the water, go to the right.  Boats/launch are near the dam, far south end of lake.  You won’t see them right away.

Get ice/drinks/gas well before you get to the property - We didn’t see anything within 20 miles of the property.

Amazing property - looks much bigger than 50 acres.

WOW WOW WOW!!!

Congratulations. Notice the very distinctive marking on the fish just below the soft and spinney dorsal fins.

Steve you’re too young to understand that the marking is what us seniors call age marks.  What a great fish and to hear that it will get to spawn again.  I bet next year’s big bass contest will focus on Bowie. Clint what are the odds that you’d catch one that big on Fork.  Private waters fishing better than sliced bread.

I need a new Golden Rule! Mine only goes to 21 inches! lol
Great catch, Clint! I’ll be going there soon, so maybe I’ll catch her (or her sister or mom) again.
