Fingerling
Had a fun outing at Van Alstyne JerMar Lake. Roads and trails around the lakes and ponds had been mowed - met owner Jerry King who was doing some additional mowing. He was a gracious host - told us about the ponds and where to fish.
The 10 acre lake was beautiful - nice vegetation and lots of submerged timber and rocks. Submerged brush piles were marked with white PCV poles. Saw three snakes so keep an eye out.
Caught everything on shallow crank baits, fire tiger and silver colors. Caught 10 total - a 3 pound bass “with a 10 pound attitude”, a large bluegill and harvested 8 under 14 inches - about 10 pounds total.
Jerry said the 3 acre lake was stocked but he had never heard of anyone catching much there. He recommended Beaver Pond for plenty of action.
There were 4 boats to chose from - we chose the jon boat which worked out fine. Has a very nice dock. All in all a fun outing.
