Booked a last minute afternoon trip today to Waterboo.  I’ve been trying this summer to fish new properties and techniques to hopefully get better; jury is still out on the improvement part!

Gorgeous property, takes about 12-15 minutes to get from front gate to lake.  Easy launch, but pulling the trailer up the hill with my small SUV was a challenge.

45 degree temps, water was 47 degrees, wind was stronger than expected at 12-15mph with larger gusts; needless to say it was a tad chilly.  This trip I decided to fish only with new lures for me (large umbrellas rig) or techniques I am just not that great at.  Probably wasn’t the lake for some of them, but just getting a feel was worth it to me.

Caught nearly all my fish in 5-7 feet of water on the points near the duck blind.  Everything caught was on a black/blue swim jig with 6th Sense bongo trailer.  Good quality fish with only 2 culls.

Saw a lot of fish in 12-15 feet of water on drop offs, but couldn’t get them to move for anything.

Good learnings from today and a beautiful property to enjoy!
