Fished for most of the morning on Wednesday the fourth. Tried several topwater baits early…nothing. Switched to weightless plastics…nothing. Moved to shallow cranks…zippo. The morning was quickly slipping away with only a couple of bumps and one momentary hook up to show for 3 hours of casting. With expectations evaporating in the Texas summer heat, I tied on my favorite clear water rattletrap. An hour later I packed my gear and yak feeling satisfied that my fishing skills haven’t gone completely to pot and the world was somewhat more back in balance. Ended up catching a few more than a few with several chunky 3 lbs. thrown in.

Holmes is still very fishable with only a small section of the shore matted up. Launching is not a problem for all types of craft and won’t be for the month of July. The water clarity is 3 ft.

Better than I thought it would be. Currently it’s about 4 feet down. There’s around a 2 foot buffer before launching becomes dicey. The water level was at my knees when I launched on Wednesday. Hopefully this wet weather pattern we’ve entered will help boost all of our PWF property sites.
