Fished the lake on 04/21, I heard they fertilized the lake on 04/20.  The water was somewhat stained, but probably still had 5 ft of visibility.

Caught about ten bass in the 2-3lb range, softplastics and a jointed rapala orange belly.  Hooked one large bass on a swimbait near the middle but spit the hook.  Once the bass bite slowed, i used the ultralight with a roadrunner on the brushpiles - hooked a bunch of very large crappie, all much better than average.  middle brush piles produced the best, but caught fish on everyone I worked.  Very good day.

Boat is in great shape with foot control motor - no need to bring one.

We did fertilize the water on Tuesday and the visibity should be reduced from 5 feet to 24” or less in the next couple of days. I won’t write a lengthy explantion on why you go through the time and expense of fertilizing the lake, but it accomplishes two things.

1) Clouds the water, reducing sunlight, which reduces the amount of vegatiation in a lake.
2) Kicks off a phytoblankton bloom (the first step in the food chain) for a lake or pond. This event is often called a “bloom” and causes the water to have a aqua colored tint to the water. This bloom gives food for small bugs, worms etc… The bugs feed the bait(forage)fish. The bass eat the forage.

We’re going to have to start calling you “Mr. Crappie”, LOL.
