Fished this lake on July21. Got a late start and did not get to the lake until 4;30 PM. Planned to fish with fly gear, rigged up, set the rod against the truck, cows had come over thinking they would be feed. One knocked the rod over, stepped on it and broke it. Plan B was bait casting rig. Got on the lake at 5:00 PM and start with sub surface lures nothing for twenty mintues. Saw a couple of decent bass sounding at the surface. Switch to top water poppers fishing in the middle of the lake. First cast a three pounder. Caught seven fish in the next hour between three and six lbs. All in the middle of the lake on topwaters. Biggest fish hooked was 7-8 pounds hooked in shallow water by the dam on topwater. i saw the fish two times and played it about half-way in before it spit the hook. Wind came up and I came off the lake about 6:30. Surprised they were hitting topwaters in the deep water but they were.

It’s always a good idea to herd cattle away from your vehicle. I’ve seen them put some pretty bads dents in trucks pushing each other.
