Rolled onto this fine property under foggy-overcast conditions just before dawn. Water temp at the dam was 52F with half a foot of visibility. Started the day trying a number of different techniques incuding targeting the deep water in front of the dam with a Crig with zero success. Moved onto moving baits and found that the bass were only interested in hitting my rattle rap or rattling sq bill within 10ft of the bank. Game on! Slowly worked my way up nw bank and landed a bunch between the 1st two fingers past the ranch house.
Skies cleared as the south wind built to 10 mph just before noon and that’s when the bite became pretty steady. After a quick lunch I had success along the nose directly across the lake from the dock and then finished around 4PM fishing both sides of the 1st finger across the lake from the ranch house.
Caught 16 bass 3-4.25 lbs (smallest 17” the rest tightly bunched between 18 – 19.25”). Beautiful healthy fish that put my crankin rods through the mill! No signs of bedding yet but I bet it’s getting it’s getting close! Water temp at the dam rose 60F by the time I departed.
Really appreciate the owner allowing us access to this fine property!
Cheers!
