We recently conducted an electrofishing survey at Ferris - Triple J Ranch to assess the forage availability, bass population densities, and relative weights. Our survey provided valuable insights into the health and distribution of the bass in the waterbody.
During the survey, we collected data on approximately 25 largemouth bass, with most fish ranging between 2.5 to 4+ pounds and 95-100% of relative weight. The majority of these bass were located along the dam, indicating it as a primary holding area.
Overall, the bass exhibited healthy relative weights, suggesting a stable forage base. Continued monitoring and potential forage supplementation may help sustain and improve these conditions.
For anglers, focusing efforts near the dam with appropriate presentations could yield success. As water temperatures and seasonal patterns shift, additional productive areas may emerge.
