Took a 1st time guest for afternoon fish.
My 2nd visit to Culpepper Farms, now with new Pond King Sport.
High temp for the day was 89. Started beautiful with winds below 10 mph.
Water clearer than last time likely 3-5 feet visibility and water level maybe just below normal.
Concrete boat ramp is fantastic!
We were on the water by 1:40 pm and had to shut it down at 5:30 pm with hail storm unleashing.
We worked the lake counter clockwise and by far had the most success on the Western shore near boat ramp and towards dam.
Biggest 4.66 lbs.
We learned the Bass are definitely on the shoreline on beds you could see and beginning or in the spawn.
Tried many lures but they wanted plastic worms.
If I could do it over – would have tied on Lizards from the beginning. Sometimes when we caught the larger females, you could tell they were moving the baits off their beds. Once you catch the males be patient and work until you bag the females for they are there. We had success throwing onto the bank then slowly dragging our worms into water on the shoreline. The hits were happening that shallow.
Best!

Lake look really good. Those poles in the water at the ramp are the end of the ramp, FYI. It is a nice ramp. About time someone pulls a tank out of there, there are some good fish when they cooperate.
