Bryce (son) and I took my friend out and had a good outing which was much needed after I've been questioning our skills recently as we’ve struggled to get anything significant going at our last several trips. We booked an AM trip and got on the water just after 7am. The outside ambient air temp was 41°F when we arrived and reached 46°F by noon. Winds out of the north at 15-18 mph. Water temp was 64°F on the North end by the dam (where most of the fish were caught) and 57°F on the south end where it was much shallower). Despite the brisk conditions, the fish were still relatively active. We caught them on just about everything we threw except big swims which I didn't spend much time throwing when the others were nailing them on other baits.

The top water plug fooled the 6 pounder and if I'm not mistaken the spinner and chatter were responsible for the majority of the other fish including a 5, 4, 3, and tons of dinks.

Malouf is a great numbers lake!
