Fished with my 17 year old son, who has very little bass fishing experience. I have probably fished this property a half dozen times, and it is always consistent and has clean healthy fish. We fished the deeper cove early with Senko’s and green pumpkin Gene Larew salt craws (my personal favorite), and did well. A cold front was moving out, and after two straight days of rain, the water level was way up. The fish did not look like they had spawned yet (still looked full of eggs, and tails were not beat up). Around noon, we went to the west lake, and I probably had the best day I have ever had there. Flukes, craws, and some crankbait action, mostly out from the bank about 10-15 feet. We went back to the East lake at around 400, and picked up some on the banks. Surprisingly, not may around the wood, where I typically find them. Right at sunset, we went back to the cove where we started, and I let my novice son have all the casts. He picked up six nice bass on eight casts, casting to the same spot! All between 2-3 pounds. I have never witnessed a spectacle like that in 30 years of bass fishing! It was a great day, and my son was already talking about going back!
