Total Fish/Sizes : 22 total, 12 culls, 10 returned up to 2.8 lbs
Lures Used : Square bill crank, Pit boss, Swim bait

Finished up our trip to Coalgate on a sunny, windy morning at Moonshine.  As in previous reports, the large areas of water lillies haven’t started growing back yet.  Those areas are fishable, except in the northeast corner, where the undergrowth doesn’t allow fishing or navigation.  Where fishing was possible, we caught a few small fish with swimbaits along the top of the vegetation undergrowth in the dead lilly pad stalks.  We caught bigger fish in the open water on orange squarebill crankbaits, and along the bank in the southeast corner with a pit boss (soft crawdad).  So basically, anything that looked like a crawdad worked.  The three of us caught 22 fish in 3 hours, with 12 culls, and 10 fish up to 2.8 lbs.  Cody Ranch is always enjoyable, and a trip we look forward to all year.

Yes, this was quite the experience.  The Diamond Bar Ranch and it’s many lakes is one of the most picturesque properties I have fished.  You can bet the visit to the ranch is well worth the price and I’ll be back there soon.
