Got to Deer Trail about 2:30 and fished until dark.  The lake is a 45 second drive from the gate.  The lake is really secluded and completely surrounded by nice tall trees.

Fishing was pretty slow from 2:30 to 5:30 then it really picked up.

Fished the west side and then the dam and caught nothing.  Once I got to the east side things picked up.

All fish were caught on the edge of the shoreline grass with a craw, frog or swimbait.

Caught 10 overs, biggest was 3.4lb.  Caught 20 uners, one dink and the other 19 were between 14-16 inches.  Really nice fish.  In a few years this lake is going to have some monsters.

Speaking of monsters.  As I was heading back the ramp near dark I heard the loudedst splash I have ever heard on a lake.  It sounded like someone dropped a cinder block into the water.  A minute later I heard another similar splash.  I never saw the fish but from the sound I heard it had to be HUGE.  Someone is going to catch an absolute beast out here.

Check out this lake.  It’s definitely worth the drive.
