I prepped the boys mentally for the wind, to keep the complaining to a minimum haha.  Was the 3rd trip to Acker (Dec, March both COLD windy), Friday was warm YES!

I was prepared to follow a certain plan for baits according to videos online about the wind (chatterbaits, jerkbaits, cranks, spinnerbaits).  Few hours in tied on a Lake Fork 10” ribbon tail worm and it was really obvious they wanted to eat.  We boated around 20-25 on the day, lost another 7-10 spitting the bait, broke off one on under water structure felt big…

Landed a 5 pounder, was the hardest fighting fish I can remember ever fighting in my life seriously.  Caught it straight across from the ramp, by a lone massive dead tree in the middle on tx rig 10” worm.  Sons landed several in the 3’s.

Saw a ton of bedding fish, or at least until I let my boys wear my Costas then I was blind to anything under water.

Fished from 830am-515pm (left the house @ 545am)  cooked hot dogs on the tailgate, was an amzing day.  Finally saw Mr Cody, and felt great to shake his hand & introduce him to my sons.  Let him know how truly grateful we were to fish on his land.

The wind died COMPLETELY @4PM, dead flat across the 50 acre lake after pounding us all day.  The bite stopped at the same time, as did our energy we were BEAT but very happy.

I loved this report – thanks for sharing Christopher. Tiny boat, big wind, two young boys. Big bass, big smiles, hot dog cookout. Forever memories. Dad for the WIN!

Thank you Mark for the kind words, time is a thief & I’m determined to create as many memories as we can on the water!
