Reservation Number : 43250
Property Name : Cassidy Farms
Reservation Date : 04/25/2025 All Day -
Total Fish/Sizes : 26LMB from 1lb to 3+lbs
Lures Used : Frog, Spinnerbait, Fluke

Fished from sunrise to 6pm and landed 26 bass.  Most were 2-2.5lbs wtih 2 over 3lbs and all were healthy strong fighters.  Weather was overcast to mostly cloudy from 70 to mid-80’s and only a light breeze all day.  Lake was as full as I’ve ever seen it, and the water was deeply stained green with a lot of green pollen on the top.  Visibility was less than 1 foot and water temp was 69-73 throughout the day.  This great day could have been epic if my hooksets were better.  I had no shortage of huge blowups on the black and yellow popping frog the first several hours in the morning.  Caught 3 from the dock before getting in the boat, but then my hookset percentage started to suffer but what a fun frog bite!  Once that died off I tried a spinnerbait and the fish obliged me there as well. When I got to the areas with heavier grass I switched to a baby bass colored fluke (Xzone and Zoom) and that’s the pattern that kept me going the rest of the day.  Had pretty steady action all day long just lost a lot more fish than I should have, but it made for an exciting day.  All activity was around the shorline within 10 feet of the weedline or bank and mostly on the Southern 3/4th of the lake.  The North end was just too shallow to navigate effectively, so didn’t spend any real time there.  Also, first time out with my new AutoBoat smart trolling motor, and as I expected I think it will be a game changer.  Spot lock on my Bass Raider?  Yes, please!  Thanks to the owner and PWF for another great property to fish!

So the Autoboat worked nicely!  Interested in that myself eventually. Did it use extra battery. I would expect the wind always dictates that. Was it smooth or noisy operating.

Hi John.  It was not a windy day (less than 10mph), but I used the motor constantly all day except my brief lunch break.  In fact I left my regular anchor at home so I would be totally reilant on the Autoboat.  I checked my battery level when I got home, and it still read 82%.  I have a 100Ah lithium battery that runs my trolling motor and my Garmin Livescope LVS32 and it never has gone below 70% in a single day of fishing that I remember.  The Autoboat will definitely take some getting used to (reaching for the remote, pressing certain buttons for certain features, multiple button presses to increase/decrease thrust, etc.), but I will say I picked up on it quickly enough the first time out that I don’t think it hurt my ability to fish effectively.  The motor definitely does make some noise, but it’s not “loud” and it’s not intrusive.  Also as for the spot lock “Anchor Mode”, for a small plastic boat it’s not exact and the user manual warns of this.  You can drift a few feet from where you want, but it’s not enough to outweigh the huge benefit of the feature.  It’s also supposed to work better with a heavier boat or in higher wind/current conditions even though that seems counterintuitive.  Besides the anchor mode, there are a few other really cool features this latest version has such as manual tracks where on a Google map image you can draw your own custom track around the lake, and it will just follow it at whatever speed you set until you stop it or use the anchor button.  In anchor mode, you can also do a “jog” feature where you can adjust your anchor location by around 5 feet in any direction with a push of a button in case you got anchored just outside of where you want to be.  Anyway, I’m really looking forward to using it more and getting more proficient wtih it.  Game Changer!
