My son Cal and I fished Yates Place on May 2. We have fished many of Private Water properties, but if you want a chance to catch a large bass I believe this lake gives you the best chance. We only caught 11 fish, the largest being 7lbs 2 oz. but with the program this owner has in place now and planned for the future their is double digit bass to be caught. Oh yea, for the ones of you who don’t like to get your car or truck dirty, the road is paved all the way to the dock.

have there been any other reports for Yates Place? Would love to hear others stories of how they have done.

Jon, thanks for asking. Since we are only allowed two trips per week we have only had about 10 trips. As you see Randy caught a 7.2 on Sunday and the Saturday twosome of Tracy Rust and Tony Williams caught 24 fish with one fish over 7 lbs.

The owner caught an 8.5 two weeks ago. Our first group in early April caught 3 fish over 5 lbs. The other reports have been mixed. If you are looking to load the boat we have better lakes. If you are looking for a beautiful lake with the opportunity to catch your personal best, this is the lake.

The landowner called this morning and he caught a 9 lb fish off a bed in 30 minutes of fishing. In case you are wondering the landowner does fish this lake a couple of times a week, generally for an hour or two. We are very fortunate to have him do this. He is on top of this property. Not only is there good fish managment, but there is great fish management.

Here is what we are doing from a fish managment persepective on this lake:

*Stocking Tilapia
*Stocking Shad
*Fertilization
*16” and under removal of all bass
*Chemical treatment of Millfoil. The lake does have lots of millfoil and quite honestly, more than we want, but it is extremely expensive and time consuming to treat. We are working on it. It provides great cover for the bait fish, but does make some of the lake difficult to fish.

Currently, May is booked. There are both weekday and a couple of weekends still available in June. I full expect someone or someones will catch a double digit fish out of this lake this year.
