Pam and I fished Lancaster on Friday evening. Was hoping for some cloud cover and breeze with the incoming scattered storms, but the storm didn’t come in until about 8:10 PM and the lightning ran us off immediately. Up until then it was just dead calm, sunny, and hot (high of 96F) – so the bite total was mitigated. I think that a good 12-15 MPH breeze makes all the difference at this time of year. We still managed a lot of reaction bites, especially on the deeper egdes and open water. We landed 36 including 2 crappie. The majority of catches were around 1.5 – 1.75 LBS with several in the 2 LB range, one over 3, and THEN Pam landed a tank on a small underspin in about 17FOW on a medium spinning rod and lighter line – a 6.3 LB beauty! Most effective baits were: spinnerbait, crankbait, small underspin/paddletail. Lake is full and water was 94F and clear. Thoroughly enjoyable!
