Paul Giller and I noticed that the weather was supposed to be in the lower 70’s and the winds at 5-10 mph; so we decided to give 9G a try (our second time there).
As with many of the ponds and lakes, 9G is low which made launching my 15’ boat and getting to the main lake area a little difficult.  Also, the winds were certainly more than 5-10.
Anyway, we spent about 4 1/3 hours on 9G.  We used lipless crank baits (which worked the best), square-billed crankbaits, silver buddies (like Heddon Sonars) and Texas-rigged plastics.  Due to the wind conditions, we did a lot of drifting and then motored back.  I did catch one largemouth by drifting a plastic crawfish while I was casting a crankbait.  I had the rod in a holder and saw the “tap tap”.
All in all, it was a slow day.  We caught 6 fish, one of which we harvested.  The other fish measured from 16” to 18”  - so, they were decent-sized.  Except for the fish caught on plastic, all the fish were caught in 5’ to 11” depths.  We tried the 15’ to 20’ depths, but never got any strikes.
The surface water temperature was 49.5 degrees.  If the lake ever rises about 5 feet, there are some areas, including the riprap, that look promising.
PRAY FOR LOTS OF RAIN IN NORTH TEXAS OVER THE NEXT FEW MONTHS!
