This report is more for the families over the serious fishermen.
We made the nice drive from Dallas to the property to overnight and fish the following day.
Upon arrival, we were pleasantly surprised. Expecting a simple fishing cabin, we found more like a weekend getaway lodge. It was comfortable and well accommodating of a family with kids. There was ample sleeping space in the one bedroom for the four of us, and the kitchen had all the standard appliances with utensils.
The property was well cleared and the whole family could easily and safely walk the circumference of lake with the whole of it being bank fishable. They have a jon boat with oars as well, but the wind prevented usage without a trolling motor.
There was no nearby agriculture or cattle so as a result, the lake was unpolluted resulting in clear water free of moss and weeds resulting in tangle free gear.
For the families, this is a perfect getaway, very secluded, and plenty of run around space.
For the sake of the report, I’ll talk fishing. When we arrived that evening, we didn’t fish but could hear and see them popping on the surface all over. So at the crack of dawn, I tried top water poppers and surface bugs with not a strike. As the morning sun broke over the tree line, I switched to clouser minnows (medium size, silver) with a nine foot leader on a floating line and stripping the line quick and short. That yielded the bass but the trophy size eluded me as the bank slope is gradual - meaning you would have to use the boat to get to the deeper spots.
As an added plus, my daughter, still learning the sport had the huge advantage of a cleared bank all around, so the back cast did not get tangled in brush.
Excellent experience for a first time member.
