Great weekend at Melody Acres with the Family.  We got there Saturday afternoon.  Patti and Isauro showed the family around the ranch.  My oldest son immediately became friends with the 7 month old puppy, named Mouse, that was bigger than him :).  He also had a great time helping feed the goats and got to hold one of the babies.  Both the boys had a great time seeing all the animals on the ranch.

Also what great hospitality by Patti and Isauro. My wife asked if they had a fire pit so they could make s’mores at night.  There wasn’t one when she asked, but about an hour later there was a fire pit with wood in the yard by the house. They also provided us with farm fresh eggs laid by the hens that morning, and offered fresh lettuce, radishes, onions and beets straight out of their garden.
Now to the good stuff, the fishing report.

All in all, the fishing was great. Caught around 40 fish over the weekend, mostly bass and brim, and even a few nice sized crappie.  Culled 11 bass under 14” and 3 nice size crappie.  Fished mainly near the island, south end of the lake, and east side just north of the old dam.  The biggest fish was 5+ lbs.  Most bass were caught on watermelon red colored flukes or wacky worms.  The bream were huge.  I could barely get my hand around them to hold them.  My son had a great time catching them.  Most were caught on night crawlers or roadrunners with lake fork baby shad tails in bar fish color.

Great pics.  You’re right, “Mouse” must go about 100lbs!

Did you have any luck around the shoreline brush piles?

We had luck with the brush piles piles south (behind the boat house) and on east side of the lake.
