Fished with a guest from 7AM to noon on Memorial Day. Caught 20+ and harvested 7. Fish were schooling in the middle of the lake and pushing bait to the surface as it was overcast for the entire morning. They did not stay on top long but could be caught if reached in time. Caught fish on Pop-R, Yellow Magic, Traps, Hawg Craw, Brush Hog, and spinnerbait. We did not chase the schooling fish the entire time or we might have doubled our catch. Spent a good deal of time exploring the shore and submerged trees. Surprised to catch only 1 fish out of a tree. Fish are healthy and strong. Also saw some deer and heard the sound of the disappearing bobwhite quail all day while fishing. This trip was for my dad’s birthday and it made for a great day. I really like the lake and the location and will be back to pitch some jigs in the fall.
