Wife had family to visit nearby and it was trades day weekend in Canton for her. This was a well located weekend site for her plans and allowed me to check out the lake for the first time.

The lake was probably 2 - 3 feet low and emergent growth made this a topwater trip for me. (Remined me of 9G) The bass seemed to prefer a chartruse buzz bait which was fine for me. I like seeing the strike! There was quite the wave action with the high winds, but fortunately we avoided the rains that were predicted. The bite pace was enough to keep you interested and I caught fish up to 4 pounds. I had a 6 pounder or so spit the buzz bait right back at me clearing the water. I had no clue the fish was that big until I saw it. The boat was okay and water tight, but I was glad I brought my trolling motor as his was iffy from the start.

This is a nice destination for a relaxing weekend get-a way. and only about 90 minutes from N. Dallas.
