We decided to take advantage of the nicer weather and tried 9G for the first time. We were going to JerMar but the snake reports was too much for Susan. (I guess I’ll go there with a buddy.)
9G was really beautiful. Very light breeze, bluebird sky, cool temperatures and gin clear waters as the description said. The boat and ramp are the best we’ve seen so far on PWF lakes. Big, comfortable, dry 14 ft boat was a pleasure. The freshly mowed grass everywhere was nice too - no worries about snakes when you can see where you are stepping.
We fished from dawn to noon. No topwater action at all. Tried buzzbaits, sara spooks and Spro frogs - nothing. Quickly went to soft plastics - Senkos, Flukes and worms caught a few. Caught another couple on shallow cranks, silver and white colors - nothing on Rattletraps. We couldn’t find any pattern - a fish here and there. Caught 5 total (from 6 inches to 15 inches), harvested 3.
Lots of moss on the bottom everywhere but not much on the surface. Lake level is quite low. Some brush piles out of the water, and getting from the boat ramp to the main lake is a little tricky but very doable.
This is a great place overall so we will try it again.

Larry: We have mowed recently and sprayed along the road at JerMar for weeds. We killed some of the snakes when Steve and I and Bryan stocked tilipia from the breeder pond and put in the big lake, JerMar. I know snakes are a worry, but controlling the weeds is my best plan at present to reduce the snake population. As the weather gets cooler, the snakes will not be active.
