Took my 11-yr. old grandson fishing at Weston PM only.  We were fishing in front of a front.  Overcast skies, 5-10mph wind, 72 degree air temp, water 74 degrees.  I caught and released 3 bass (largest 2.7 lbs.) and he unfortunately got skunked.  Water was stained.  Visibility of less than one foot.  We threw every lure in the tackle box and finally established a pattern with KVD 1.5 medium-diving red-eyed sexy shad crank bait.  Lots of bait fish throughout the lake.  Perhaps the bass had eaten plenty by the time we got there.  The lake is 3-4 feet low and you MUST be careful where you go or get stuck, especially near the island and extreme south end of lake.  Advise NOT going past pipe which stretches across the lake in the south end.  I like this lake and will return when water levels return to normal.

Hey Phillip.  My wife and I moved to Fairview in 2007 (Heritage Ranch) from Phoenix, AZ, to be near our grandchildren who live in Allen.  Heritage Ranch is an upscale, gated community of 1150 homes with several lakes.  Heritage Lake is the largest at 10 acres. Catch and release.  Anyway, no one had organized the fishermen here at the Ranch when we arrived so I started a newsletter and the original mailing included 6 names. We now have 116 on our FISHING FOR FUN newsletter, of which a dozen or so are VIPs, such as Ray Sasser, outdoor editor of The Dallas Morning New, Brian and Steve from Private Water Fishing, etc.  I created the title of Fish Commissioner and it stuck.  So, now I’m called the Heritage Ranch Fish Commish.
