Guest and I fished Sunday, Feb 16th from 9 to 5. We arrived to still waters and clouds.  Mid morning when the clouds first burned away the fish started chasing shad to the surface creating big swirls in the middle of the lake. We chased the swirls and my guest hooked a good fish on a chatterbait but lost it at the boat. I never saw it as I was reaching for the net. Lesson learned, probably should use a trailer hook on chatterbit.  As the day steadily warmed to near 70 so did the wind but it never became too stong. As one of the other members posted previously about Yates Place - you think with each cast you have a chance for a really good fish. Great place to start the year off, didn’t get the big fish we came for but will come back for another try.
