On the lake from 7:00 to 4:00.  Top water bite was on for first hour and a half.  The fish were flat attacking the bait.  Had a 21"er come completely out of water on the strike.  Some were slapping at bait.

Caught and released a total of 16 with only four under 16”.

Water temp - 56 start—59 finish
Misty in morning giving way to partly cloudy
Most fish on a Pop-R but lipless crank and Carolina rig also successful

Rodney,

Thanks for asking. You may use stink bait or dough baits for catfish. Just no live shad or minnows. At Grapeland you are willing to keep any of the larger (15 lb +) catfish. The smaller catfish should be returned. You may also keep up to 6 crappie at Grapeland.

Please note that as a general rule you may keep all Crappie and Catfish that you catch; EXCEPT AT GRAPELAND AND BEN WHEELER. PLEASE READ THE REQUIREMENTS SECTION AT EACH LAKE FOR SOMETHING DIFFERENT.

You don’t even need traditional catfish baits. Caught a five pounder on a worm late one summer day !!!
