Fishing partner Ron Samuels and I hit the water at sun-up but no topwater bite. Actually had ice form on our rod tips and reels. Caught a crappie early at the dam on a shallow-diving crankbait. At about 10am, landed a 6-pounder on a Biffle Bug soft plastic, bouncing it on the bottom. He caught a half-pounder, otherwise a slow day except for the adrenaline rush while netting the big fish. Air temp varied from 32-54degrees, water temp 56 degrees, bluebird skies, 5mph wind. The lake was about 4-feet low. Be watchful for submerged stumps, could tear up a trolling motor.

What a healthy looking fish! Great job Bob. It’s hard not to smile at that one.
