My son (fly fished) and I mostly fished conventional on a sunny Sunday afternoon from 12 to 6:30 with temps in middle to upper 50’s and strong winds. Without grass which was present the last time we fished this lake we had a hard time finding the fish. Thought I would never say that about grass in a lake. Caught three healthy fiesty bass up to 3.3 lbs on sq. billed cranks.  I need to invest in some technology - maybe a depth finder for my BD present.

Take a look at the Humminbird Fishin’ Buddy series.  It is battery operated and has a portable mounting bracket.  It does go through the batteries, but it is a good addition to a small bass buster boat.  They have a black/white and color version.  I think they run $199 for the B/W and maybe $250 or so for the color.  They show a good graph of structure, along with fish location and water temp.  You can get at BPS or Cabelas - Usually in stock.
