It’s a conspiracy, I know it! Every time I schedule a fishing day, the winds’ gonna blow! Any way, the day started bad (or so I thought) I trolled out to my favorite spot, right in to the teeth of the wind. Caught my first 2-pounder on third cast. The wind picked up and big bows in my line made it hard to detect bites. Nothing could keep me from feeling my next bite, which led to a long, enjoyable fight including at least 4 full-body jumps. beautiful! Next thing you know, I’ve got my thumb in the mouth of a 6&1/2 pounder! Gotta start bringing my camera! I fought &fought the wind just to stay in place. I know I missed several bites and had the tail bitten clean off by a big ‘un. Wind let up a little at noon, when I caught another 2&1/2 pounder on a new bait and back came the wind from a slightly different angle, and I was able to parrallell the bank with some good casts. I think it was the fourth cast that I thought I’d gotten hung up on bottom, but decided to set the hook just in case. Well, the bottom came to life and I was in for the deep water fight of my life. darn thing went for open water 3 times & tried to cut me off w/the trolling motortwice! It was ANOTHER 6 pounder, that I gently released to fight another day. By this time my trolling motor was unable to handle the wind, so in I went.

I’m gonna quit fishing and simply enjoy your reports!
Sweet! Good for you.
I hope we slay ‘em at San Saba this weekend even though we have a small front coming in on us. I’m over due. I have a guest fishing with us for the first time from Wisconsin. I think he’s in for a treat! He is a turkey hunter and we always see and hear tons of turkey at San Saba so he might not be able to concentrate on that tug on his line.

Tight lines my friends… Keep those reports coming, it gets my confidence up anyway and makes me look forward to my weekend trips.

Looking forward to checking the new Athens lake out as well soon.
