Toad
This is the second time Ihave fished this location. I fished just the morning and caught 15, about 6 got away. Some were dinks, but I did catch some in the 2-3 lb range.
Since I started around 7 AM, I first tried topwaters in the back of the channel directly across from the road/launch site. I had some luck with a Hedrom Mini torpedo (prop) in black/chart. I tried a Hula popper (white/green) and a green frog, but did not get a bite. I tried the frog in the grass bed to the right as you enter the channel, but no takers.
The topwater bite died around 7:45 so I switched to a 5/8 oz black jig with black/chart. trailer which I fished on the rocky shore to the right of the channel - no takers. I then tried a green finnese worm on a weighted hook and caught a couple. I then switched to a 3/8 oz jig (green/chart) with a green trailer and that WAS the go to bait.
I fished that jig along the drop-off to the right of the channel and on both sides as you enter the channel with good success.
It appears today they liked green/chart. in either sunken or standing timber.
