Went to Furst on 6/13.  Started at daybreak with topwaters.  Then started throwing eveything we had.  Nothing.  Not even a hit.  Gave up after three hours.  Been to this place a few times last year, always did pretty well.  Some kids from the ranch showed up to fish and told me they have had very little success as well.  Has this place had a fish kill?  I have been a member for about a year and have NEVER been skunked!  Guess I will try another place next weekend.

Chett. Thank you for your report. To be fair we post all messages on our fishing reports section. Good or Bad. We are sorry you were skunked. The lake has not had a fish kill, it has been pressured by people outside our club, and this is something we have told the property manager about multiple times. They have committed to fix the problem to try to restore the lake back to its prominent status. However, our members continue to fish and find other people fishing outside the club. We are weighing our options on what to do with this property. As you know it is hard to find water this large in such a great location. It is about 30-45 minutes from anywhere in the metroplex. We will be continuing to work with the landowner to rectify the issue, but please note in the meantime you might have some company when fishing. Currently, this lake does not fit our brand promise of “Reel Solitude”; and for that we are very sorry. We hope to get the property back to where it use to be or we may be forced to drop this once great lake from the club.

I have fished Furst several times as it is only 20 minutes from my home.  About half way down the east side of the lake there are several Christmas trees sunk that hold bait fish.  There is a 5# bass that hangs out there that I catch everytime.  Also, there is a stand of trees about 50 yards from the bank about half way down the west side of the lake that holds bait fish also.  Try a watermelon color fluke rigged with swivel (sp?) then about a 6 inch leader to the hook so it sits up off the bottom.  I have caught over 100 in a morning there.  I too have had people come fish while I have reserved the lake but usually it is the ranch foreman or an older gentleman who has fished there for a long time.  I visit with them and get along well with them.
