If you have not made the trip down to Grapeland recently, do yourself a favor and hit the road!

Fished Friday morning….the lake was full, the weather was great and the winds were calm.  By my best count, I put 74 in the boat between sunrise and 11:45am.

Now here is the best part, of those 74, three were over 3lbs, four were over 4lbs - and there were too many 2lb fish to keep count.  The big fish….one at 5.7 and one at 7.6, but the 7.6 measured a full 24-inches so my scale might need to be upgraded.  The big fish was beaten-up and was very obviously post-spawn, but my best guess is that the scale did not give her full credit.

I caught 10 at daylight on a Pop-R, but was anxious to switch to my new weapon of choice…..Mr. Senko (I am obviously a late bloomer!).

Even without the extraordinary fishing, it is a great lake.  Make the trip!
