Sorry for the late post gang.  Phil Evans and I spent a day out at Neill Ranch on April 9th.  We caught over 50 fish and culled 27.  The lake is REALLY beautiful from the minute you enter.  The water is crystal clear with quite a bit of thick vegetation.  Throwing Senkos and shallow running crankbaits got the most bites and Texas rigged plastics worked well on the multiple deep brush piles.  The bass looked a bit thin and there were some small parasites on a few of them.  We caught three crappie unintentionally and two of them were the blackest crappie I’d ever seen.  I’ve heard that the black species of crappie thrives in more acidic east Texas waters but these had an extra coat of paint compared to the fish in Ray Hubbard.  It was an action packed day and a place that would be a good experience for anyone who just wanted to catch a lot of fish.  We didn’t catch anything over four pounds and most were around the two pound mark.  This lake needs some aggressive culling in my opinion.  It was once again one of those beautiful days to be on the water.

Tight lines,
Jackson
