My friend Ron and I hit Thompson Ranch in Huntsville from noon to dark on May 15. We caught about 50 total, all but one in the dink to 16 inch range. Fish looked healthy and fought hard. We harvested 20. One large fish caught at dusk on black Yamamoto worm was 21-inches and 4.5 lbs. The water level was good, water color clear coffee colored, visibility about 2 feet, and looked like heavy leaf tannins. Very fertile lake, and once the over abundance of small fish are removed (I think they need to be seined out - harvesting isn’t going to do it) this will be a great property. Most caught on drop shot set 10-12 inches off the bottom, and fished in 1-5 feet of water. Some on Texas rig, and crankbait and spinner. Easy access off of I-45.
