I don’t because after they’re filleted and the rib cag removed there’s not enough meat.

Sure, you could get enough meat w/ large numbers but that’s a lot of work and a bigger mess.

I definitely do. Going to Athens ne Sunday to try to catch some fish to eat although seems like fish getting bigger there. I’ll book place sometimes I know requires harvestingto catch some fish to eat. Like you said lots of work and mess. Invest in good electric knife makes life easier. Other times I just like to get out and catch some nice fish and don’t want to clean any fish. One of my favorites is Ferris triple j to catch some nice fish if you don’t like to clean fish. Has some real nice fish in it and can be bank fished easily if you don’t wanna mess with your boat. Lost good fish out there few weeks ago probably between 7 and 8 lbs. Some big crappie in there though if you wanna catch some eating fish

Not normally big on eating fish, so I usually don’t.  However, my wife and I had a Chinese exchange student living with us for several years who was completely nuts about fish.  She’d practically eat them while they were still wriggling on the hook!  I had to prepare them (12 - 14 inch bass) by scaling, gutting, gilling (yes, head, eyes, skin left on!).  Then we put a bit of garlic & ginger in the belly cavity and steamed in the oven.

Thought it was crazy to eat skin, but dipped in soy sauce it was delicious.  Now that she’s gone, though, I don’t bother anymore.

PS She was trained to LOVE the taste of fish as a little girl by giving her fish-flavored candies and lollipops. (!)
